Yes, that is correct, these are OEM parts - not cheap aftermarket. These are the same parts on all 272 V6 and 273 V8 from 2006 to 2013. That is a few million cars that are now all aging, and many have not had these parts replaced. Always seem to need to be replaced around the 90,000 to 110,000 mile mark I am not sure why many shops do not even recommend this service before something fails! WARNING! On these engines, early belt failure can occur if you do not use the OEM belt!

Very good access to do this work on a V6.  On a V8 it is a little tight but you can still replace these parts without having to remove the electric fan.

RECOMMENDATION: Since you have to remove the belt and the middle idler pulley, now would be a good time to replace the thermostat as a preventative measure. Please note that the thermostat for the V6 is different from the V8. You can purchase one of our thermostat kits below ( which also comes with video instructions).  272273

M273 V8 Thermostat DIY Replacement Kit

Common failure item. Change at 40,000 to 50,000 miles to avoid problems. PARTIAL Video instructions included.

This is not a difficult part to replace, but it does require you to remove the belt and one pulley. A good time to replace this part is at the 80 to 100K inspection interval since you will already be removing / replacing the belt and pulleys.

Failure is more common and happens more often with these thermostats due to the internal temperature probe that goes down through the center of the housing. It is much better to replace this as a preventative measure to prevent engine overheating.
