Why do you need to do this? Valve clearances are supposed to be adjusted on these early V8s every 10,000 miles. You can imagine why this does not get done! Add to the fact owners can not find the right information or tools and it makes neglect even worse Why not on later model years? In 1976 Mercedes introduced hydraulic self-adjusting lifters ( along with K-jectronic fuel injection). Kent decided to combine these two special tools in one kit because most of the time you will need both. You will receive a bonus set of new valve cover gaskets and free instructions on how to do this job yourself.

Valve clearance adjustment should be done every 10,000 to 12,000 miles. Recently emails started coming in - "we can not find any valve adjustment tools for our earlyV8 - help!" Most companies are currently noting the old factory-style tools are no longer being manufactured, so we went to work to come up with the strongest and tightest fitting wrench that would go onto the ball socket adjusters and would not "spin off" and round out the nuts. Watch the video below as Kent explains the problem and shows how this wrench may be the best available anywhere!
IMPORTANT: Since the adjuster nuts are about 16.5 mm we have to take a 16mm crowfoot and grind it slightly bigger so it fits TIGHT on the nuts and can round them off. Limited availability as we custom build these in our own shop and they are quite time-consuming to make the modification to fit VERY TIGHT on the ball adjuster.
