4/26 Update: We have modified a new wrench for this kit, so it may not look the same as that shown in previous YouTube videos, but it will do the same or even a better job! We do sell the water pumps individually, but we decided to offer this complete kit to make installing a diesel pump easier. If you have rounded off bolts and no special wrench, removing the fan from the front of the water pump can be a REAL test of your patience.
Product Details
This kit comes with (4) brand new fan clutch bolts that we source and custom machine here in our shop. The metal is stronger than the originals, the wrench fits tighter, and the heads are taller for better grip. Very handy to have on hand when you are changing your water pump or fan clutch out! If you strip one or lose one, or have to bust one off because it is totally frozen, you can still finish up the job. We include our special wrench to remove and install the bolts, but you may need our special wrench to get the old ones off. The wrench is very long, and we custom-machine the box end to fit over the restricted space surrounding the bolts.
FITS THE FOLLOWING: all 116, 123, and 126 chassis with 4 or 5 cylinder diesel engines from 1977 up to 1985. 4 hole, long Version - 135mm w/ 36mm HD Bearing - Total Length 135mm - NOTE: Some 240D's did not have a fan clutch, so bolts will not be needed.
This kit contains the following:
- New water pump
- New water pump gasket
- Proper gasket sealant
- 4 new fan clutch to water pump bolts
- Special long reach thin wall wrench to remove old bolts ( even if they have started to round off)
- PDF Installation instructions for the pump only

Here you can see the advantage of our special long-handled thin-head 10 mm wrench. The long handle allows easy reach to the bolts holding the fan clutch to the front of the water pump. The ratcheting box end will NOT work on the water pump bolts, but is very handy to have in other situations where 10mm head bolts are hard to reach.

Here is another diesel item I strongly believe should be replaced as a preventative measure. Water pumps do not last forever and when they go, it is usually when you are on a trip - right? I feel they should be changed every 100,000 miles.
