This is the unit that keeps your serpentine belt properly tensioned. This is a common part to see wear out in the 120,000 to 150,000 mile range. When it does, your belt will become loose leading to belt noise, overheating, and poor alternator output.

Grab ahold of your belt and lift up on it. See how tight it is and see you quickly it springs back to be taunt. On high mileage cars it is good preventative maintenance to replace this before it gives you trouble on a long trip. You DO NOT want to have to replace one of these on the road.
This new tensioner will install on all 190E 2.6, all 260E and 300E 1986 to 1992, 300TE 1988 to 1992, and 126 300SE and 300SEL Sedan 1988 to 1991. For other years and models of the 124 chassis please use the contact us page.
